Will my system work in a blackout?
No, due to safety issues a grid connected system will shut off and reconnect when your power is returned.
Solar PV is a very low maintenance system mainly due to the fact that there are no moving parts. However we do recommend a yearly clean and check of the panels and components which will enable peace of mind.
We envisage 2 – 3 weeks. Once we have your signed contract we then take the steps to lodge all the required paperwork with Energex/Ergon and order stock. This usually happens within two (2) weeks from receiving your contract.
Yes it can. At the moment the cost of batteries is quite high and therefore not a viable option currently. Prices however will drop dramatically over time and most systems we install will be able to have batteries retrofitted at a later date.
These days solar can be fitted on most properties including the carport, shed, patio etc. Conditions such as shade, orientation, roof pitch and asbestos can have an effect on your installation. Mark Kendall Electrical will make a site visit to all of your installations and assess any of these conditions and discuss them with the customer.

A grid connect solar system can be connected to any home/office that is connected to the local electricity network. Solar is generated during the day and converted into useable power. The power is used in the home first and whatever is not used is sent back into the grid. This paid for by your Energy Retailer and is referred to as the “solar feed-in tariff”.

The Inverter converts the DC electricity into AC electricity at a voltage compatible with our Australian Electricity supply.

Solar panels collect energy from the sun and convert this to DC electricity.

Yes solar panels can be installed on different roof levels by using a Dual Inverter. It is preferable to use no more than two.

North is generally considered the best direction to have your panels facing, however with the introduction of the Dual Track Inverters we are able to design a system that incorporates both East and West directions. It is important to know that south is the least efficient aspect in the Queensland region for your panels to face.

As the Inverter is the equipment that works daily to convert your solar energy to electricity it is highly recommended to install a good quality Inverter with a warranty of no less than 5 years. Most panels these days are of a good quality coming both out of China and Europe.
Solar can still be a wise investment for people who are not at home during the day. Modern appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and dryers can be programmed prior to you leaving home to start at a certain time. Hot water systems, pools and air conditioners can also have timers installed to assist also. It may take a bit of adjusting at first.
A “feed-in” tariff is a set amount allocated per kilowatt by your Electricity Supplier which is then credited against your electricity bill for the amount of kilowatt hours that is exported back to the main electricity grid.
With the current price of the “feed-in” tariff being at its lowest, it is most beneficial to use as much power during daylight hours as is possible. Essentially this is between 10 am to 2 pm. This is the time when your solar system works at its peak when the sun is out.
We estimate that between 2 – 2 1/2 years your solar system would be paid off on the basis that your system is used to its maximum potential.
Solar saves you money on your electricity bills and is an ongoing investment.
